I'm a vegetable and fruit junkie, so if I don't count them I'm essentially removing more than half of my calories. I can easily eat 5 apples or 3 pounds of tomatoes a day.
  • If I consume it, it gets logged. Calories still matter no matter where they come from. Even lettuce has calories and carbs.

Even when I have spinach in my smoothie which is a whole 10 calories, I still log it because I'm also interested in my macros.

I logged 3 calories worth of spinach on my turkey burger tonight... I weigh/log all fruits and vegetables (even lettuce, spinach, etc)

I don't count the lettuce on my tacos, burgers, sandwiches, etc. Sometimes I skip logging plants (a carrot, a strawberry) when they're under 40 or 50 calories, because it's below the noise level and I would rarely (if ever) eat enough fruits and veggies to go over my goals. I also don't count the 15 calories of sugar I put in my tea a few times a week.

I track fruit and starchy veg. Leafy veg I'm not so fussed about unless I'm trying to work out how low my fibre is for the day.

To control a deficit you need to know the number of calories you are consuming. Fruit and veg have calories... They also mount up when you eat a substantial amount of them.
    Also agree about the macros.
