Now that my husband and I are empty nesters, it's easier for us to grab something out, which we often do. My work schedule is hectic and I just don't feel like cooking. When I am on a weight loss plan, I seem to do better. I am just confused about which way to go. Can anyone provide insight or information regarding Jenny Craig, Weight watchers, etc.?

Try MFP seeing as you're here... Stick to your calorie goal and you'll lose weight.

You can still eat out. Skip the deserts and the alcohol most times. Look up the calorie/nutritional information on line before you go or stick to the restaurants that have easy to understand menus of grilled and baked options. Some people find the structure of plans like Weight Watchers and South Beach helpful but those are not necessary.

MFP doesn't require a diet plan. Just track your calories. If you have no intention of tracking calories then I'm not sure why you created an account here..... and I doubt there's much difference between different programs.

I like to take my basic principles from slimming world, but not go as far as to measure my 'healthy extras' quite as religiously...

Basically SW says 1: shoot to choose big portions of low fat/calorie proteins like haddock, prawns, turkey, etc and medium/respectable portions of meats like beef and pork (your palm is an indicator of the portion size you may need).
2: Eat as much veg as you like until you are full.
3: Have a smaller but still respectable (maybe 1/3 of meal) portion of health carbohydrates.
4: Allow yourself to have a monitored amount of treats each week, SW uses syns which you can look up (you get 10-15 a week if I recall).

I try to stick generally to these rules as they're just purely about living a healthy lifestyle and learning how you should eat to optimize your health so that when you reach your goal you are less likely to just slowly turn back to bad habits. Until I fell into depression and abandoned all my normal activities and habits inc eating, I had good health for several years while never measuring and I'd happily say it was from what I learned using this program.

Adding the MFP tracker to have a deficit, I'm confident that I'll be back on track for a healthier lifestyle :)

i just found the Omni diet plan and i am starting tomorrow. it seems to be a really well-rounded plan, easy to follow, and since i am allergic to corn & soy, it's perfect b/c it eliminates those foods.
