Anything you want under your calorie goal is generally a good place to start.0

Start by reading the stickied threads at the top of the Getting Started forum. You'll get lots of great pointers there, mainly that you can eat anything you like, as long as you make it fit in your calorie goals.0

The trick to permanent weight loss is to learn how to eat what you enjoy in a responsible manner. You won't live a life without potato chips (for example), so you've got to find a way to be able to eat potato chips occasionally.
Weigh, measure and log all your foods to learn how to control your daily calorie limits. You'll find the tricks you need to make you're goals happen. It'll be a balance of healthy, vitamin-rich foods (the majority of your intake) and snacks (an important minority of your intake).
Read the threads suggested by Tubbs216 and set a reasonable weight loss goal of 1 lb/week. It'll lead you to success in your journey.
