Festival Food

Hi everyone!
I'm at a festival this weekend which I'm really looking forward to, however food is going to be an issue,
You're not allowed to take your own food onto the grounds and once you're in you can't leave and re enter, so I won't be able to nip out and grab something.
They'll obviously have food there but I'm guessing it will just be burger/ hot dog stands etc..
I really need to stay on target but 2 days of bad eating is definitely going to have a negative effect on my weight loss!
ANY tips/ideas?!
(I'm also new to mfp and in need of friends/support so feel free to add me!)

You can sneak Breakfast bars inside your sleeping bag, surely?
What about just making sure you DANCE YOUR A55 OFF?!!
Burn the cals that way! :-)

Hi:
If I were in your place. I will have a healthy food before going to the place and take water, raw fruit and/or mixed nuts in a small bag.
If you have to eat at the festival for whatever reason:
1) Buy the burger and do not eat the bun. Do not use any topping.
2) Buy bottled water on the premises if they do not allow to bring your own.
Only eat the most natural food available.
Have fun0 -
If it's a decent sized, well-organized festival, their website may have a list of food vendors. Then you can do a bit of research ahead of time and see what is least bad. When in doubt, I always cut the bread. A greasy cheeseburger is bad enough, but on a 250 calorie white flour bun, it's even worse. If they have a barbecue stand, your're golden. Pulled pork or chicken with some yummy sauce and no bun is my go to a fairs, etc. And delicious!0

I'm sure you can find healthy options. When I go to Floydfest there is one stand that has a "Veggie Thing"...it's a tortilla loaded with grilled veggies and a little cheese. It's delicious and I don't feel guilty about it. If you get a burger, maybe skips the cheese, etc.
You can do this!! And have fun!!

A hot dog isn't going to ruin your whole diet experience. You'd need to over eat 3500 calories just to gain a pound so I really wouldn't sweat it. Make the best choices you can, use portion control and enjoy yourself.0

What kind of food options do you have?
Pork chop on a stick? High in protein!
Burger, no bun
Grilled chicken sandwich
Veggie options at all?0 -
What fest are you going to? Orion Fest is this weekend in Detroit, where I live, but I hadn't planned on going. I get my fill of nasty delicious festival food at Bonnaroo every year, in Tennessee. Mmm.0

Can you *definitely* not take food in? In my festival experience they usually don't let you take drinks in, but food is OK. If not, and you're concerned, then yeah, hide stuff in the bottom of your sleeping bag! I usually smuggle a couple of bags of wine (from boxes) in the same way0

Is it Download?
I am going to Glastonbury in a few weeks, what I did last time was eat a porridge pot for breakfast about 9am, a breakfast bar (this year it will be protein bar) for a snack, a pot noodle about 2ish and then something from the vendors at night. Plus I had a constant supply of cider and vodka on the go.
This year, 56lbs down, I am going to do exactly the same thing. Its 4/5/6 days of your life and you will be walking and dancing off a lot of calories throughout the weekend so don't worry too much about it. Drink lots of water and enjoy yourself!
You can take snack bars surely. And if not, just opt for a healthier choice for 2 out of 3 meals per day.0 -
The truly exceptional exceptions are not what do you in. Unless you go to these things frequently, just eat what you want, plug in the numbers and move on. It's the every day "exceptions" that kill diets.0

Its only a local one so you don't camp there! I went last year and got my bag searched and I got frisked! I don't have that many lumps and bumps to hide food inhaha
Alcohols another issue, its a lot of empty calories! I'll just have to crazy and dance it all off!
Thanks for the advice guys I guess i'll just have to make the best of bad choices!
I suppose one weekend won't kill me!0 -
Festival food is notoriously expensive. It'll cost you a LOT to eat enough to do any damage. For me, I generally fill up on a BIG breakfast and then once I'm in the arena, I'm either having too much fun or fighting my way to whichever stage the band I want to see is on that I don't even think about food.
Seriously, don't worry about it. Stay hydrated, treat it as the fun time it's supposed to be and enjoy yourself.0 -
I highly recommend protein bars, especially if you will be there for an extended time. They're very portable and nonperishable. And if they search you and see your food, you can always says you have terrible food allergies, or that you're on a doctor-ordered diet. It's a white lie, yes, but it can help you stay on track with your goals.0

I will also be going to an outdoor concert this weekend (2 days) that is the same way..no food or drinks allowed, so you have to buy their high calorie crap for big $$... I eat a big breakfast and typically will get a pulled pork sandwich without the bun later in the day...good and filling. There is also a Subway food wagon~but it has very limited choices. I typically smuggle in a few granola bars and maybe some hard candy tucked in my bag inside a magazine ....and I always take some of the crystal light powder packets to add to my water so I don't have to buy a water or pop for $4. (they have water wagons to refill your bottles for free)
I always try to be consciencious about my choices nowdays, but I look at it that it's one weekend and it won't make or break my overall goals--no matter what I decide to eat!
GO and HAVE FUN!0 -

I love this. Very wise.0 -
Take your own food and if searched tell them you have special dietary requirements. Bet they wouldn't take it off you then. And it isn't (quite) a lie...0
