Hello everyone,

Does anyone know of any calorie-free Maple syrups or any other sweet syrups in Canadian stores?
I'm willing to sacrifice the regular taste to fit the syrup into my calories.

Thanks.

I don't know of calorie-free syrup, but there are sugar free alternative like Cary's, Vermont's or Hungry Jack's Sugar-Free Maple Syrup that come in at anywhere between 25-30 calories a 1/4 cup. My favorite of the three is Hungry Jack's, since it tastes most like regular syrup, but the other two are pretty good too

There are the calorie free coffee syrups. Calorie free maple syrup, if it exists would be disgusting I would imagine. I prefer to use less of the real thing than ingesting all the chemicals.

Now I haven't tried this, but I have seen it on other boards and recomended by a few.
Apparently it is available in canada.

    Joseph's Sugar Free Maple Syrup
Made from all natural maple flavor, Joseph's Sugar-Free Maple Syrup is low carb and safe for diabetics. Try it on ice cream, and for making specialty drinks or coffee. Unlike other watery diet syrups, this Sugar Free Maple Syrup has a thick consistency.

    Size: 12 oz.

Ingredients: Water, maltitol, all natural maple flavor.

    Nutrition Facts: per 1/4 cup (60ml) Calories 35 Fat 5g Saturated Fat 0g TransFat 0g Cholesterol 0mg Sodium 30mg Carbohydrate 9g Fiber 0g Sugar 0g Sugar Alcohol 9g Protein 0g

I personally don't eat anough syrup for it to matter, but it may be an option for you.

That is an off world food, not to be used unless the apocalypse is well underway and you have no other alternative whatsoever, then and only then you should consume it in private.

Give me maple syrup or give me death!

Given that 50ml of maple syrup has only about 160 cal and is rich in potassium and anti-oxidants why would you want to give up this staple of the Canadian diet? Go for the flavour and then go for a walk to burn a few extra calories if you're that close to your your target!

I haven't tried it but I've heard wonderful things about walden farms pancake syrup. Some of their products are absolute crap but the are a few things that are pretty good. I use Vermont's sugar free maple syrup and it's only 15 calories for 1/4 cup. I just don't use maple syrup that often.

Stampede in Calgary means that syrup becomes a staple, so I get where you're coming from. I believe Aunt Jemima puts out a "lower in sugar" variety, as well as Harmonie (Coop brand). Neither of these are as thick as the real maple syrup, but the taste isn't too far off and the sugar content is waaaaay lower.
