What are the best foods to eat whilst taking antibiotics?

I'm on a course of antibiotics (clarithromycin) for a nasty chest infection and they really aren't agreeing with my digestive system. My GP prescribed Ranitidine to take along side them as tummy issues are a known side effect but I'm still feeling sick and to put it politely my digestion has sped up. Probably TMI but I'm spending a lot of time in the bathroom which has led to a 3lbs loss since Sunday. I'm been out and bought some probiotics today but I'm wondering if anyone can suggest nutritious things to eat that won't go straight through me. I'm a lactose intolerant pescetarian so no dairy or meat suggestions please. Thanks in advance.

The usual recommendation is yogurt, but since that is out, think fermented veggies: kimchi, sauerkraut, pickles. Kombucha is fermented too.

ETA: I'm recommending these things because they help reestablish gut flora. I know they'll be hard to eat.

Make yourself a nice pot of soup. That will go down easily.

Things I normally eat when I feel gross or my stomach is whack:

    - Soup
    - Starches like bread, crackers, potatoes, rice, pasta
    - Granola bars or fruit bars

Hopefully you're off the meds soon and back to normal!

The probiotic will definitely help. Most yogurt is very low in lactose, so you might be able to try it with one of the lactaid pills or look for a soy yogurt...as long as it has active cultures. FYI...probiotics work best if you take them first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
