I am a short woman. 4'8" I feel like to lose weight I need to eat less than 1200 calories a day but that is the lowest it will go. I weigh 110 right now and according to bmi calculator can weigh as low as 87 and still be normal weight range. I want to weigh 100. How do I calculate how many calories to eat?

Do you feel you need to eat less than 1,200 or do you know? It could be possible that your calorie needs are less than 1,200 for weight loss. What are you basing that on?

Did MFP put you at 1200? Start there, and track your weight. If you aren't losing (about 0.5 lbs/week) after a couple of weeks then cut down a little bit. The goal is to figure out the MOST you can eat and still be losing.

Well if I put lose 1 lb a week or lose 2 lb a week it still says 1200. That doesn't makes sense.

1,200 is as low as it will go because that is the lowest limit for the vast majority of women.

Have you tried setting it at 1,200 and logging everything to see if you lose at that weight? If you do that and your logging is accurate, you could then try setting it lower (as recommended by another poster above) because you would have established that you need less to lose weight.

If you are sedentary, your TDEE is 1314, if you step your activity level up to lightly active, it goes up to 1500-ish.

You will lose on eating less than those...I recommend getting some exercise in so you can count on burning 1500 per day just by being you...then you can comfortably eat a diet of 1300-1400 calories per day and lose your 10 pounds in a healthy manner. Good luck!
