Hi all, well to start out with im a 5'5" female who is doing the 30 day shred, week 3 along with many stairs (up to nine floors at a time with a 10 pound backpack, I'm a college student) I net around 1300-1400 calories daily. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I am getting major headaches and I am constantly tired, and as a biochemistry major this is a problem. Please and thank you.

Are you losing weight right now? At what pace? My first thought is that you may not be eating enough, which is why you aren't feeling well. Did you change any dietary habits recently?

5'5" and netting 1300-1400 calories? You are probably not eating enough or not enough of the right things. How is your nutrition? I can't see your diary to give specific advice.

Tired and headaches for how long? A week? 6 months? Could be any number of things (ie stress).

I weigh about 166, as of two weeks ago... And I have recently cut back on sweets, well pretty much entirely cut out sweets. I'm not sure how fast the pounds are coming off but I've lost about 2 inches in my waist in the last 3 weeks...

And the headaches and and tiredness for past week, and I get between 8-10 hours of sleep. With no added stresses recently that haven't been there already since the start of semester.

How do your macros look? Cutting back on sweets -- does this mean you're not hitting your carb target or do you get it through fruit and grains?

Did you cut down on coffee, tea, significant amounts of chocolate -- aka caffeine?

Are you getting enough water? It is not uncommon to get tired and headachey if not. (Is your pee clear or light yellow throughout the day, including when you wake up?)

What is your activity level set to for MFP? You might be more active than what you set it to. (Would count stairs, walking around campus in your activity. 30 Day Shred would get logged separately as exercise.)

How long have you been feeling crummy? If only a week, or less, are you near time of the month? (And if so, temporarily up your calories by a bit, maybe 100-300, as this can really help during that time.)

Maybe adjust and try netting more like 1500 and see if that helps, if all else looks right.

Was one of those sweets caffeinated soda or beverage?

Shockingly in this day and age no, I can't drink a lot of sodas or in that matter eat a lot of fruits due to fructose being present. I have hereditary liver fructose intolerance, and I don't need those issues. Not a huge coffee fan, and tea only when sick.

Woo hoo! Fellow bio girl Hi!!!!
Ok, so I'm well out of college, but it's nice to see the next generation learning more than I did ;)

My vote is for dehydration. Especially in what I'm guessing is poorly ventilated classrooms and dry as heck labs you need to drink a lot! Also, make sure you have enough of the goodly sugars, they don't have to be the simple ones but some fruit before working out always keeps me From getting dizzy and I'd bet it will help you.

And rock that biochemistry! Being a scientist is the most amazing job ever! You will not regret the work you put in I promise!

Sounds like classic dehydration to me, remember if you feel thirsty-it's too late you're already dehydrated. Keep a refillable water bottle with you at all times and drink up. :)

Also make sure you are eating a balanced diet rich in fresh vegetables, healthy proteins, fats and snack on fruit and nuts/seeds for an extra little boost. University life is tough on the body, show it lots of love :)
