Protein - confused?!?

Crazy question, but i'm a bit confused about protein. Everyone seems to mention it (and carbs naturally) when talking about weight loss, but in order to achieve weight loss should be eating more or less protein? The reason i ask is i never seem to hit my targets for protein on a day-to-day basis. I'm not a vegetarian, but i don't eat a lot of meat, no red meat at all and absoutley no fish - i can't stand the taste of a lot of meat and no fish products.
I've lost 76lbs in the last 15months and i've nearly hit my target goal whilst trying to maintain the weight loss, but it has stalled/become a lot harder to lose the last amounts, and i had no idea if this was in anyway related to my lack of protein or personal diet.

Any advice would be helpful!!

Eat more protein. I'm a vegetarian and recently I've managed >100g protein daily. You can supplement with protein shakes/powders or eat protein rich foods like eggs (especially the whites) and cheese.

you do not need alot of protein...By lowering my protein drastically especially animal products..I am NOT a vegetarian btw...I lost all my body fat..the secret is quality Carbs and lots of them to have energy to train ..and fat is "burned in the flame of carbohydrate"

i was recently in a bulking phase and am currently in a cutting phase... right now my protein/carb/fat ratio is 40/30/30 and im losing plety of body fat. You need good carbs and fats that you can burn during your workouts, and your body also will use those as energy after your workout to recover. you need protein to rebuild your muscle and keep your body from breaking down muscle for energy... you want fat loss not wieght loss. im currently getting around 195 grams of protein a day, and am seeing great results. I obviously take protein supplements like Whey and casien. Since it sounds like your pretty much confined to chicken for your meats, try adding in more yogurt, cottage cheese, quinoa, chia seeds, and nuts to reach your protein goals, but def supplement if you need more.

Protein helps your body maintain it's muscle as you lose. MFP has their default set at a very bare minimum (I think it's 15%?). There are a lot of vegetarian sources that you may want to look into.
