The one funny thing about Passover is it can be an easy time to eat kinda low carb! If you're really sticking to it, you can't snack mindlessly on any pretzels or most candies and chips. It's definitely tough though, holiday foods are so yummy and even without bread you have that matzah covered in butter. Stick to things you know through the week like salads, lean meats and fish, and I say if you have a night where you're celebrating, don't worry too much and enjoy. Gefilte fish is pretty diet friendly, but if you're new to passover you might not love it ;). good luck!!

Ha! I love gefilte fish! I've been participating with my husbands family a few years now, so I have an idea of what to expect, but I've never tried to keep my calories low ya know?

And I'm in charge of dessert this year!

Well of course the seder is predictable, and then the other foods are fairly predictable as well, so you could pre-plan. Personally, I will go over on holidays, but no need to go crazy with it. Decide on an amount over that works for you, for example 500 or 1000 kcals, then pre-plan what that means you can eat (prioritize your favorites!), then you will have a general game plan.

Eat all the foods in smaller portions. That's what I plan to do.

Given my family I think this is the best option!

as above everything in moderation. I try for maintenance and not for loss. I some extra exercise also helps. If i go over for 2 days, i can go make it up the rest of the week. Just don't get discouraged and enjoy yourself.

This might work too, I'll calc my maintenance weight to make sure I don't beat that for the weekend!
Our family is interfaith so my parents celebrate Easter and his Passover, so this is gonna be a busy weekend!

If you just mean for the first two nights' sedars, it's just like Thanksgiving dinner and so all about portion control. I would do things like fill your plate with a lot of vegetables. For the alcohol, note that you don't have to drink 4 cups of wine - either plan to drink less or swap it with a glass of seltzer.

I am not Jewish, but I have some (Spanish) Sephardic ancestry. I came across this yesterday and thought that a lot of these recipes looked interesting...and appropriate for a healthy splurge:

I especially want to try these:

I gobble down the gefilte fish first, then move on to the Matzah brei . B)

Aside from the two big seder meals, I usually end up eating less during the week of Passover. I'm not a big fan of matzo (unless it's made into toffee..in which case it has all the addictive qualities of crack) and I live in an area where it's hard to find prepared Kosher for Passover items (or even basics like macaroons or cake mixes...the first year I moved here I went to my nearest Publix and all they had were a couple of boxes of "Not for Passover" matzo). So Passover is a pretty low-carb holiday for me. Keeps me from snacking (although I did make a killer flourless chocolate chipotle cake). I do have to say that halfway through the holiday I am over all the cooking. I just want to be able to give my kids a bowl of cereal in the morning and let them buy hot lunch at school, instead of making matzo brei for breakfast and baking matzo meal "rolls" to go with the tuna salad in their lunch boxes.
