I have be doing pushups for a few years but I haven't noticed any real gain, do you have advice on how to get past a pushup plateau

Define gain. Are you talking about being able to do more pushups, or getting stronger, or having more muscle mass?0

Doing more pushups. I was assuming that's how you see if ur gaining what are the other ways you mentioned?

You can try using one arm or putting your feet 18" higher if your looking for higher intensity. If as stated above your looking for more mass I would suggest weights to increase the load your body has more than likely gotten use too. I just quit the 100 push ups program at 85 because of an elbow issue I don't want to get worse.0

Few years but
1) How often do you do per week?
2) Did you have a plan that you followed wherein you did them every let's say MWF?
The reason I'm asking is b'coz you maybe doing it for few years but if you don't do them with consistency and plan you'll not see yourself doing more.0 -

I was going to suggest doing them less often. I found that going from 3x/wk to 2x/wk helped me increase the number I could do.0 -
Are you doing any accessory work besides pushups? Planks, side planks, handstands, pull-ups, weights? Working on muscle groups in different ways can help.
Have you looked into pushup progressions and variations? My first thought is that if you're not getting your chest to the ground on every rep right now, try doing hand-release pushups and see if that builds up some new muscle.0 -
Try different push ups for more explosive movement and variation. Have you done push up and releasing both hand off the ground? Clap push ups? You'll really strengthen the muscles required to do a push up and you'll be able to do more as you explore more variety0
