i know how to lose weight and have done it significantly many times(!). The problem I always have is that when I get stressed or down I eat like crazy. I've been 'just trying harder' for 5 years and now I'm just demoralised. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Whatever you've done in the past that hasn't worked, attack it a different way. Don't give up. Just find a way that works for you.

food is comforting but if you can do something to take your mind off problems it can help. xo
  • Thanks. I'm thinking that what I need to do is try and reprogram so that I turn to exercise when I get stressed / down, instead of turning to food. Logically its a no brainer as exercise makes me feel better than food does. However, it's a very ingrained pattern of behaviour so it's easier said than done.

Yeah, wouldn't it be great if when we got stressed we suddenly felt like taking a brisk walk? But when you actually do it, it really does feel great. I know that I have been in the middle of comfort eating, put it down, and gone for a stroll. It takes a while to make that the habit.
  • That would be great. If I wait until I feel like it though it will never happen! Weird how our feelings have such a strong pull on us, all logic and reason goes out the window; does for me anyway! Just got to somehow break the habit and make a new one.
  • Im in the same boat as you if you feel that urge keep something healthy pre-prepped on stand by so it can be a better and easier quick grab for you to binge on. I have been using ceased salad kits or turkey bits(which are packed with protein) so there is not much harm done and you get full faster.

You can also try to take up little hobbies to keep your mind and hands occupied with something else. I have taken up crocheting but you can also knit, scrapbook or make handmade greeting cards. The distraction helps when it is too late to go out for a walk.
