Hi all,
Just wondering what everyone's take is on what to eat when they're sick. I'm a low Carber but the past 2 days I've had a stomach bug and I ate crackers and drank coke and really just craved carbs to settle my stomach. Do you guys agree with following your sick cravings or stick to the plan no matter what?

My mom always told me that when I was sick if it sounded good to me I should eat it. That's what I still do, I figure my ill body knows what it wants to feel better. That being said I still try to not go nuts but I find when I'm sick I really don't want to

    Oh, carber. LOL.

I'd eat what sounds good & just track it. Mine would look something like, "1 sleeve of saltines, 2 liters of ginger ale, 8 ounces of cheddar cheese". :p

Usually when I'm sick I have a steady diet of soup & crackers, Gatorade because I tend to get dehydrated (and it has to be Riptide Rush) and Vernors (ginger ale) to help with any stomach issues. On those days I don't worry about my calorie count or sticking with a plan, I just focus on getting better.

I stick to the usual diet plan. Being sick for me is no excuse to eat other things. I think that is weak will and determination. That is just me though..

When I'm sick w/a cold, stomach bug, or something similar, I eat Ritz crackers, maybe some soup, and 7-Up. Both Ritz crackers and soup are foods I eat regularly, but I never drink pop; however, when I'm sick, I crave 7-Up. No, I don't drink a 2 liter of it, but I will have about 16 ounces worth. I also crave ice cream when I'm sick, but I never give in to that one. It's not because I don't eat ice cream on occasion, but it's because I know it won't make me feel better. :)

I hope you feel better soon. Eat what'll make you feel better.

my doctor I've had from 7 to 28 (now) ALWAYS tells me when your sick to eat whatever your craving. If its carbs, soup, fast food to just eat whatever sounds good.

It's about not being able to handle eating a normal diet (noun). I don't think eating a lighter meal due to illness says anything about someone's determination.

I have a Cold, and I'm sticking to my plan. But for a stomach virus, I'd just eat what sounds good and stays down.

Thanks for the insights! I'm feeling better and eating LC again and with the illness dropped 6 more pounds so yay I guess lol. I just felt guilty going off my plan of action, my "lifestyle change", haha but eating carbs and drinking full flavor soda did help me feel better and no harm done so for future illness I'll just follow what my body's craving
