Hey folks, I'm new.
So, I was at the doc today to figure out why I've been gaining weight, not having periods, etc., and come to find out - I have been smacked with a diagnosis of menopause! At age 37, I didn't expect that to be the answer. Hubby and I still wanted more kids.
I guess I'll be looking for a menopause board here (is there one?), and trying to figure out how to eat to counter whatever that is doing to me.
Hubby and I just started trying to lose weight together 10 days ago. I've given up soda, bread, pasta, and processed sugars. We entered a local contest that runs for 100 days, and the 2-person team who loses the largest percentage of body weight wins $500. I'm hoping this 100 days of motivation can help me start some new habits so that, win or lose, after the 100 day contest we're set to continue a new lifestyle.
We both recently had bloodwork and our "pre-diabetes" marker (the A1C) was pretty high. Hubs was just into the "pre-diabetes" category, and I was just on the other side of the line, so it's time to make some changes.
Anyway, thanks for having me. And if anyone can point me towards a menopause board, or even a diabetic/pre-diabetic board, I'd appreciate it!
