Tracking exercise with a step tracker?

hey people! Hoping someone can enlighten me since I feel.ike an idiot asking this. So my Misfit Flash updates to MFP with my steps for the day, but I don't add into MFP when I have ran or swam etc as an actual exercise vs normal day to day.. Since I don't eat my exercise calories, does this really matter then? Can I just keep not tracking the extra? Or is it all taken into account with the Misfit?

Any help would be appreciated. My diary isn't open due to personal things this past week, as its very much effected my nutrition.
