edited November 15 in Goal: Maintaining Weight
I lost on 1200 calories a day with one cheat day a week. I have lost 23 lbs over 12 weeks!
I started my first week of maitenance at 1350 calories a day. I have been a daily weigher for the last 12 weeks and have continued the trend.

My weight has bounced down below what I was a week ago..back to the original number..and even fluctuated by 0.2-0.4 above what I was a week ago.

My question is...do I bump my calories again since I'm not actually GAINING (this jumping around is pretty normal for me) or stay put for another week since I'm not losing either?

Thanks!

It's your call. The main downside to jumping straight to maintenance (which is likely around 2200 if you lost about 2 lbs per week eating 1200) is that it'll make your weight jump up. I'd keep increasing by 100-200 calories every couple of weeks until you start to slowly gain.

You are going to have to walk up your calories until you maintain in a goal range (not one single number). With that rate of loss 1350 can't be maintenance.
Agree with above post - your eventual maintenance could be in the region of 2200/day.
It might take many weeks of experimentation to fine tune so enjoy your food!

Ok so the main point to take away is that this is NOT gaining..

Would it be a better idea to weigh weekly instead of daily at this point or is the exact time I should KEEP weighing daily?

I'm a bit over 5 foot 8 and 150 lbs...heavier then some might like but for me it equates to a healthy size 6-8. I workout 3-4 days a week and I am a nurse so I'm on my feet quite a bit. I kind of knew 1350 wasn't "it."

Completely personal preference how often you weigh. I like to weigh daily and just ignore normal daily fluctuations. To me my weight is just data and the more data points you have the better you are able to understand and accept the cause of those fluctuations.

    And congratultaions by the way!

I weigh daily but use a 10 day moving average to smooth it out so I can see "real" movement trends. there are some apps that will do that for you.

    Thanks for the congratulations!

I do like weighing daily to see what certain foods or habits do..and you're right..it's data...the more in tune I am with myself the better!

Aylajane...that's a great idea too. I guess this means I get another 150 calories next week!
