does anyone know any good articles that show how strength training and hypertrophy may overlap each other in there ideals?. for example if i train hypertrophy I cant go heavy and light and therefore would i not lose strength overtime?

The two overlap completely and constantly unless you purely train in the 1-4 rep range. Stick to the 4-8 rep range and you will kill two birds with one stone. Unless you are planning to compete in powerlifting competitions there's mo reason to only focus on low reps. Mike Matthews books are great references.0

Blatantly stealing this from a recent post by @LolBroScience.
Recent dissertation study conducted by Brad Schoenfeld, and his comments in article form on some of the conclusions and inferences he drew from the study.
The study: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24714538
The article: lookgreatnaked.com/blog/bodybuilding-vs-powerlifting-type-training-which-builds-more-strength-and-muscle/
One very interesting output here: the study summary and the study's author's commentary emphasize very different points (not surprising, as the commentary is a bit outside the scope of the study parameters and anecdotal as opposed to part of the methodology). Thanks to LolBroScience for posting that (elsewhere)!0
