50 lbs lost in 87 days

I reached the next milestone today by having lost 50 lbs in the first 87 days of my "relaunch". I set out in earnest on January 1st (I know, how cliche), to get my health situation in order, and I'm pleased that I've kept to it. This time, while its taken a little longer to reach the 50 lb mark, I'm not punishing my body with 2 hour daily workouts like last time. While it was effective, it wasn't sustainable. While active, I don't work out, and I need to start - if for no other reason than this is about fitness as much as weight loss - but motivation lacks at this point.
Having done this before over 4 years ago, I'm not as thrilled as I was the last time - I know the road ahead is not easy, and I'm still questionning myself on how I allowed myself to regain the 134 lbs I lost in 2010/2011. Or more importantly, why? Why did 1 bad day in 2011 become a bad week, a bad month, a bad year? Why didn't I pull out of the nosedive earlier?
I don't have an answer yet. I'd like to lose another 90 lbs and reach my short term target weight in September of this year - 1 lbs less than what I achieved in 2011 - and even that is still 50 lbs from my ultimate target which will likely take me to next summer.
For now, I'll focus on each 10 lb milestone, and not get lost in the enormity of the task. It's how you "eat an elephant". One bite at a time.

You go girl !! And trust me been there done that ! I started about 6-7 months ago needing to lose about 40-50 lbs and then out of pure stupid laziness I just stopped when back to eating crap and more crap ontop of more crap last month I drank and entire case of 12 candy of Dr pepper in literally one day and then I went okay this has got to stop so im back at it again I have only been for about three days now lol but I'm doing workouts every second day rather than everyday cardio everyday is just too hard on my body lol but it seems to be working doing it every second day I usually walk uphill for about 60 minute at about 3 mph and run for about ten but I'm trying to ease myself into it slowly
However now instead of 45lbs i now have to lose about 70 to reach 150 witch is my first goal my second is 130 but idk if my body is physically able to be that light haha so we'll see I hope things are going well with you feel free to add me as I haven't figured out how to use this thing yet haha0 -
Really well done! I'm back again having lost most of my fat and put it all back on (and more) through stupid eating choices. I've got over 90 pounds to lose but I'm not going to set a time limit this time. Think that was my original problem, I was focused just on losing weight and not changing my eating habits, so when I reached my target I stopped watching my intake. Every time I had to go up a size in clothing, I'd just buy a bigger pair of jeans or dress. WHY? Why didn't I stop and think "hey, you're now three sizes bigger than you were so let's do something" instead of letting it get to ten sizes bigger?
Nice to know there are some other people out there with a big chunk to lose and not just a couple of pounds.0 -

I refused to buy anymore clothes this past Christmas - I was just sick and tired of spending money to look worse than I did 3 months ago. I cleaned my closet out, came across some really nice stuff that didn't fit any more, and oddly enough it motivated me get back on track.0 -
Good job getting back on track. Each time we hop back on the wagon we come back a little wiser and a little stronger. As long as we don't quit we will succeed. Thank you for sharing your story and providing inspiration.0
