When your mind tells you YES, but your body screams NO

Hi guys, for a quick intro. In 2004 I weighed over 325 pounds. I don't know how much over because I jumped off the scale as it was climbing and did not return to it until I had hit the gym for a solid 2 months at which point when I went on it, it read 280. I continued with the regime of exercise 5X a week and portion sized meals and in about another month I lost another 10 pounds. I was elated, got a swell head said I could stop for a little bit as I had lost about 50 pounds in a little over 3 months I deserved it and there began my 10 year battle with yo-yo dieting and exercise of coming close to 300 then losing 25 pounds, never meeting my goals and quitting only to start up the same process the beginning of every year.

Fast forward to now. It seems that everytime I start a diet or exercise program, something goes wrong. I either end up sick and on meds or the emergency room, this happened last year October. My friends and co-workers tell me I am too extreme. I would start this exercise program and push myself, because I could remember when an hour and a half in the gym was a breeze for me, now doing 30-40 minutes leave me aching and hurting for days, which I ignore until something happens, usually swollen knees and/or ankles or some other long knee injury that requires x-rays and restrictive braces, pain all over, and a trip to the doctor in which I am told no exercise for at least 2-3 weeks at one point it was for 3 months. Binge eating begans and then all the weight that I lost comes back and just to be difficult it usually brings along a few friends.

So then I tried, restrictive eating, at least this way I was certain I would not end back into doctors care. Um.. nope... wrong again. Last Thursday saw me BACK in the doctors office, this time, with gastrointestinal issues because apparently I have sent my body in some type of shock.... hunh... and I thought this time I had it, I was not pushing myself too hard with exercise, I was not doing anything that would injure my knees, I was not groaning through and ignoring the pain to get that last squat or lunge in and I STILL ended up requiring medical attention. And this is the kicker, I was told to go out and eat something, whatever I wanted as my iron was too low and I was too weak... can you believe it, those are words I never thought I would EVER hear come out of a physician mouth, at least not in relation to me. :\

Long story to ask a simple question. What do you do when your mind tells you... YOU GAT THIS, but your body responds with a resounding NO YOU DONT.

Sent your body into some kind of shock?

Did your doctor give you any better/clearer description of what s/he meant by this?

Because unless you know exactly what happened to your body, and why, you won't know what to do differently in the future.

Well maybe this is a mental block as well. Think of it not as just weight but a life transformation. 1. GEtting tge binge eating and it's underlying causes handled. This is an emotional issue that needs addressed.
    2. Realize its a lifestyle change
    3. Sometimes in the beginning it's better to ease into exercise until you get stronger
    4. Don't go overboard with som crazy diet plan like 1000 cals a day as its not sustainable. You need something that is effortless and possible for the rest of your life.
    5. Your body may not be where your mind is yet so be patient and find a balance between a healthy balanced meal plan that works for you and exercise that takes it slow then slowly bump up the intensity as this will avoid injury and do strength exercises to build up stability inyour injury prone areas like ankles knees etc. Feel free to add me as I have the same problems but I have figured out how to be injury free and lock down the food too.
