I am a runner training for my second half marathon. I am also on a calorie deficit. I would like to avoid losing core strength or muscle. Can anyone recommend a routine or app that does not involve buying weights or gym membership?

Might I suggest investing in a fitness ball. Mine cost $10. There are 100s of exercises on the interweb that only use this apparatus and most of them are for core strength. Best 10 bucks I ever spent that wasn't on food.0

You could try a bodyweight program, such as those offered at Nerd Fitness. The important thing in retaining your lean body mass is to make sure you're progressively overloading your muscles. Nerd Fitness does over a beginning and an advanced bodyweight program to continue challenging yourself.
