Anyways do you buy Whey protein powder? If yes, then you can make Energy Bars at home in matter of few minutes.
    Yes

Have you come across post by user vismal on MFP? If yes, he added this video on his youtube channel of homemade quest bars.
    Here is the video

I buy VistaFiber from amazon b'coz I don't make a whole lot bars. I sometimes buy quest online when they go on sale.

If I were you I would follow vismal and @usmcmp‌ (she is in conversation with you). - they give some solid advice.

  • one of the easiest to make is mix banana(mashed up) with oatmeal and then add anything else you like (i.e.. dark chocolate, dried berries/raisins, nuts, even protein powder) and then bake for about 10 minutes until they set. SO easy! you can probably bake them into a bar too, in muffin cups, or just into cookie type bites.
    Oh, and ana3067's response to you?…what a wise-*kitten*! lol

You cropped out the first part showing you that the bars you were eating had almost the same amount of sugar/

Indeed I did it was a example and I've not bought that actual one, but you right the sugar is round about the same

Again hence I would like to try make some that give me the same boot (counted in my calorie allowance) that are better for you with less sugar

Well I wash my hands before I make stuff, usually, so pretty sure any recipe would be clean since I'm not rolling ingredients around on the ground.

    I missed this very funny

Generally the energy bars are made with fruit (contains sugar) and nuts (contains sugar). Sometimes they use honey or agave nectar to make them stick together (both of those are sugar). You'll get extra micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) with choices that have fruits and nuts, but you'll still end up with high sugar in most of them because that's the point of energy bars.

    Sugar is energy.
    Sugar is not the devil.
Eat sugar, keep a reasonable calorie deficit = lose weight.

surely choc bars have added sugar rather than natural found in fruits

snickers MILK CHOCOLATE (SUGAR, COCOA BUTTER, CHOCOLATE, SKIM MILK, LACTOSE, MILKFAT, SOY LECITHIN, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR), PEANUTS, CORN SYRUP, SUGAR, PALM OIL, SKIM MILK, LACTOSE, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN OIL, SALT, EGG WHITES, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR. ALLERGY INFORMATION: CONTAINS PEANUTS, MILK, EGG AND SOY. MAY CONTAIN TREE NUTS.

Seriously, why are people jumping all over him for wanting a "clean" bar? If he wants to choose to eat all natural foods then so be it.

I didn't jump on him, but I pointed out that I can't necessarily answer the question without knowing what he considers "clean." People have all sorts of different definitions, including no (added) sugar, no white sugar but honey and other forms of added sugar are fine, no grains, low fat, and various other things. Some even think Quest bars are "clean" and plenty of "clean eaters" use protein powder. Thus, people should use clearer terms. But I think I was nice in pointing out I didn't know what he meant.

I also did provide a link with recipes, in case it was missed.

Do you like Granola? This is VERY easy to make and you can put in whatever you want! You do need to add sugar and butter to make it all stick together. Then you can make the pieces big or small, depending on how you like to eat it. Also, it makes a PERFECT birthday gift.

That's what I've been playing around with trying to imitate the Real Simple bars available here in Canada. It's a modification of a puffed wheat recipe. I use agave syrup, brown sugar, a couple tablespoons cocoa powder, and a scoop of the vanilla whey. I pour it over millet puffs.

I'm getting pretty close to the marketed bar.

Also, if none of the bars I linked work, I was recently on a biking trip and for the most part just carried around dried fruit, nuts, bananas, and chocolate-covered nuts (which were delicious). I don't think extra protein would really be necessary when biking, although nothing wrong with it--I think of energy bars (as opposed to protein bars) as being mainly carbs.

I lost 121 pounds eating sugar goodness!! All you need is a deficit to lose weight and meeting your macros/micros. I had heart disease and totally reverse to nothing and have out standing blood pressure, eating sugary goodness!!

Congrats on the weight loss!! :)
