I take a multivitamin as insurance. I know I don't get everything I need every day. I also take vitamin D and fish oil. I eat a lot of fish, though, so the fish oil is probably overkill.0

Personally I haven't seen good evidence that vitamins should be taken in the absence of a proven deficiency. I aim to get a wide variety of fruits, veggies, and grains in my diet and don't worry about the supplements.Three new papers published in the Annals of Internal Medicine add to an accumulated body of research that has studied the health effects of routine vitamin and mineral supplements in healthy populations. The best available evidence gives us good, reliable information to conclude that multivitamins offer no meaningful health benefits to the generally healthy consumer.
