My phone!

So, I am a little disorganised!

I use the app on my phone to log the ingredients when I cook. My god my phone is suffering! When I cook I am so busy weighing and measuring ingredients whilst cooking that my phone ends up covered!

I made a simple ham, cheese and spinach omelette but wow! cooking eggs while grating cheese and scanning barcodes on spinach! my phone smells of cheese! It's like this with every meal I make.

I know I should be more organised! What would you guys do better if you were more organised?

I'd spend a lot less time looking for car keys!! (Have misplaced back ups, so heaven help me if I lose my last set!)

My food scale is in front of my microwave, so I keep my phone on top of my microwave and my food on the counter...plus I often rinse/wash my hands while cooking so very little food gets on my phone

Maybe write everything down on a piece of paper then log it in after its done? paper is way cheaper then phone replacement.

I do the same, but have a wipe-able whiteboard stuck up in the kitchen to write everything on.

yeh, paper or a white board would make much more sense. I'm not one for making life easier on myself!

I never know how much of anything I'm going to use until I use it. I weigh a handful of spinach then whack it in the pan. I could pre weigh and have all my ingredients in a row ready to use (but I know I wont!) lol. I have to log whilst cooking (or before) as I have gone over my allowance by logging after eating.

I just realised last night how focussed I am. Last time I tried MFP it seemed crazy to be faffing around, weighing everything but now I cant imagine not weighing and logging.

That's exactly how I cook, which is why I find a white board easiest to manage everything.
So it's like; a carrot is 100g, write it on the white board, apart from this bit which is squishy or I dropped on the floor, re weigh, change it on the white board.

I find it handy to weigh-and-log on my phone while cooking, but my current phone has gotten so slow that this now doubles the cooking time!

I think I need a better phone, as a totally necessary diet aid ;)

Do you ever find that when you go to log it, once it's cooked and eaten, you've gone over your allowance? A couple of times I've gone to log something, then realised it's too many calories and just isn't worth it (I wanted pasta last night but once I'd weighed out 2 handfuls for over 100 calories I decided I could manage without it!)

Not really, but I do plan pretty much everything in advance. For example, work lunch is lentil chilli that I made a big thing of and split into 5 tupperwares for the week, and for dinner I'm having stir-fry so I've already logged 100g pork, 100g of carrot (which I know is usually a small-medium carrot) etc. basically I pre-log maximum amounts so if it turns out 100g is way too much carrot for my stir-fry, that's when the white board comes into play. Then I can sort my evening snack (if I have room for one) to fit in with leftover macros.
Fortunately I have a desk job which gives me plenty of opportunity to jig and re-jig my calories and stuff before I consume them.
You can probably tell I've been doing this for some time.
