Hi everyone,
Are there any of you lovely people in MFP land who do martial arts regularly? I do taekwondo, TAGB style. I've been doing it almost 3 years now and have reached my red belt (2 belts away from black belt). When I started training, I was quite slim but because of medication I was put on, I gained about 9 stone over 2 years, still training all the time.
I entered the TAGB british taekwondo championships when I was a blue/red belt and came 3rd.
What I find really beneficial with taekwondo training isn't the exercise. It's the philosophy. Taekwondo practitioners are expected to learn to live by 5 tenets (which are the first things you must learn at a white belt): courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self - control and indomitable spirit. I'm sure that whoever is reading this can see how those tenets can be taken out of the training hall and can cross over to life, weight loss, study/work etc.
I would like to connect/chat/support people who have an interest in taekwondo or any martial art.

Recently started back in Shotokan after a twenty some year break. Brown belt working toward black. I like that martial arts adds flexibility, balance and coordination to my exercise routine.0

I'm currently a blue belt in WTF TKD. Been practicing it for a year and a half, and my 12 year old son (who is also a blue belt) also does it with me. Tomorrow i will be assisting in a black belt test being an Uke for about 5-6 hours. I'm looking forward to the experience.....0
