Hey! I am gonna start lifting. Should i do the SL 5×5 program or the New Rules of Lifting for Women? Any pics to show results on either program? Which one is better?

Either, as it's personal preference.0

The main ingredient for progress in lifting is consistency. Find a program you enjoy doing, and stick with it and you'll get results!0

Either is fine. Review them both and decide what is best for you. I haven't done either of them, but if I had to choose I would pick SL 5x5 because NROLFW has too much...stuff, for my taste.0

Too much stuff? What do you mean?

haha. Have you read the book? The template is just too messy and all over the place for my style. I like how straight forward 5x5 is. I don't really feel like screwing around with jack knives on a stability ball.0 -
I have not yet read the book I was wanting input before buying it! The book talks about nutrition though and strong lifts only covers the exercises right?0

There is a nutrition section in the book. I did not really find that helpful but it was an interesting read. Strong lifts covers the lifts, yes.0 -
It's a really fun read and not that expensive. If you're interested, give it a read. I wish I had read Starting Strength first but, not too late.0

Okay thank you0

I've read most of NROL4W but decided on SL. I downloaded the app on my phone and like how it works. I've found it to be very simple, but challenging. I have an MFP friend who started on SL because it is good on the basics and then moved to NROL when she got a little bored. I thought I might follow her lead. I don't really have photos, but I definitely have better muscle definition and it's fun to move from barely lifting the bar (45 lb) to easily lifting 100 lbs or more. Just remember that the increases might be too fast, especially upper body stuff for women, so give yourself to increase more slowly or to use smaller weight increments. I spend a few sessions at one weight, say, on overhead press, and move on when I'm ready.0

I’d look at each program and decide which one you can give your all to. You will get results with either, but need access to the equipment, time, and willingness to work hard.0

This, pretty much. I read NROLFW and much preferred the straightforwardness of SS/SL 5x5. 3 exercises, 3 days a week. Easy to learn, easy to follow.
But whatever works For you is best, really. They're both great programs.0 -
I enjoyed reading NROL4W way more than the Stronglifts website, but the workouts in the NR book seemed overly complicated and I liked the simple set up of SL better. Like others said, both have great info-- check them out and see what you think.0

I started with SL but got bored. NROLFW is definitely more complicated, but after you figure out the initial stages, it will mostly be repeating the same exercises but with different sets/reps. It's not so complicated once you get used to it. It's a personal preference, though. I did really enjoy the New Rules books. Even if you decide to go with Stronglifts, NROLFW is worth a read.0
