Hi everyone! At 38, I've finally decided to jump in and do the Spartan Sprint obstacle course which is on Augist 16th.
So I've been training for a couple of months and now I really need to focus on strength training and weight loss so that I can do the rope climb.
Anyone else doing this? My goal is to lose 30 lbs before the race.

I'm doing one in 6 weeks and I don't feel nearly as ready for it as I should.

I'm running/walking hills, carrying heavy items, working on upper body and burpees. Seems there's a huge difference between busting out 30 penalty burpees for speed and efficiency vs. 30 burpees for developing fitness. I haven't cracked the code yet, but I'm trying.

I am a huge Spartan fan, done a few Spartan sprints and this October I am going for my first Spartan Super. I have also done two Tough Mudders and mudruns are my drug. Friend and or message me and I will gladly chit chat with you about it.

I did a Spartan Sprint last August and loved it. I wish I could do one this year, but there are none close enough to me. I think I'll be doing another obstacle race, though, and hope for a race close to me next year.

You'll need to do full-body workouts. I was definitely not as prepared my first go-around. I think the key is staying consistent with your workout schedule, mixing it up often, and tracking your progress. If you haven't already, sign up for the Spartan Workout-of-the-day (WOD) and you'll get to see what it's all about. I'm looking for some friends here to help me stay accountable...add me if you want.

Spartans are some of the best groups of people out there! Aroo!
