Maintenance Days? :)

Hi everybody! I hope you're all having a good Tuesday.
I'm trying to lose like 15 lbs so I'm on an average/smallish deficit. For holidays and special occasions though I like to allow myself to eat to maintenance and not freak out if it goes a little over, and I try to limit these days to like 2, maybe 3 a month.
Does anybody else do this? :) I like it because it helps me stay on track with my deficits when I know there is a day coming up where I can loosen up a bit. This month it'll be my husband's birthday / my graduation from DLI, and maybe Easter.
Would love to hear if it has proven successful for anybody out there!
(not asking if this is gonna help me lose weight, just starting a thread about it to hear some thoughts or whatever  )

Eating at maintenance is a great way to handle a day where you want to eat more calories without erasing progress you already worked so hard to make. It is an approach I take for special occasions or in the event I am just feeling run down and want a break.

I like to eat at maintenance on Saturdays and Sundays because that's usually when I'm usually going out to dinner or having more than my typical glass of wine ;) even though I don't do heavy workouts these days, I still make sure to get out and go on a long walk or a short run to help offset things.

So far it hasn't ruined my weight loss, although I am sure it has slowed it.

    That's a good strategy I think!
It's more of a long term plan and makes sense :) Good job! Haha I really should do more activity on the weekends.. a long walk is a good idea

I did this while I was losing. About 1-2 times a month I'd eat at maintenance which for the most part was another 500 calories in a day. Helped me to avoid stressing at situations where I had less control over portions, ingredients and really 'knowing' for sure how much I was eating. (Those times when estimating was the best I could do!) It also helped me to keep my view on food & calories healthy, I think.

Now I'm almost 6 months into maintenance...

Yeah, I have done that throughout my weight loss. I think it makes sense.

Awesome to hear it's making sense for other people! :D And yeah Staci good point, it sure does help keep the food relationship healthy.
