Cutting out Sugar

When we talk about healthy weight, we need to discuss not only physical but mental heath as well. I am on this long journey to a better me! I tracked my food almost every day this week and I need about 2500 calories to be a happy me. I do eat chips and little debbie's when I am stressed, but I would rather be a happy thin me, than a grouchy me. I'm really looking to loose weight and I know sugar is just plain BAD! I reset my goals to loose 2 pounds a week, The calories are not right, but the sugar is. If we take into account glucose shock and insulin resistance I believe it to even out easily. So baby steps I am going to cut out sugar as much as possible. I'm eliminating apples, badanas (bananas) and oranges immediately!!1 I recently started eating these devil foods, but an apple has like 19 grams of sugar. My potato chips only have 0.1 grams. Do the Math sheeple! I know what you are saying. I am taking out soda too, and switching to diet coke. I also plan to add a protein shake with whole organic milk to my diet before bed, the taste of chocolate should help me sleep though the night, and boost my metabolism. Lets go on this journey together, who is in with me?

Please no negativity from the peanut gallery. ::flowerforyou::

Journeys are difficult without energy. Sugar = energy, therefore I won't be able to join your journey to loose.

So you think potato chips are a better snack than an apple because of the sugar in the apple? And that drinking chocolate before bed will boost your metabolism? That does not sound correct to me.

You call us sheeple, and you want to "cut out" sugars?

@Zelda, a chocolate protein shake, not a McDonald's milkshake. Potatoes are vegetables, just cooked with almost no sugar in them.

Yes, it is time to take a stand against big sugar and eat what is good for your mind and body! Are you with me?

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood your original statement re: chocolate and metabolism. Though I'm not sure simply drinking protein will boost it either, other than slightly more energy required to digest protein. Potatoes are vegetables, but they also have an affect on blood sugar similar to sugars, which is usually why people seek to avoid sugar.

Not trying to be negative about your plan, just understand the thinking behind it.

Reducing added sugar is a good step for many who need to lose weight. Cutting out nutrient dense fruits and vegetables because of fear of sugar isn't.
Unless you're suffering from a health issue where sugar exacerbates it, it's about CICO when it comes to weight loss.

A medium apple (4 oz) is 53 calories. A serving of regular potato chips at 1oz is 150 calories.

    Yes math does matter.

I think you're being a bit overzealous with your approach.
Any CARB is basically sugar. The body DOESN'T distinguish between eating pasta and breaking it down to monosaccharides and table sugar and breaking down to monosaccharides, to be absorbed by the body.
Again, it's the over consumption of calories (surplus) that's the direct reason for people getting overweight.

Apples and bananas (along with oranges which are a better choice) are probably the most consumed fruits in the US, and are probably the 2 least nutrient dense of the choices at a typical grocery store.

In many ways they're barely better than grains as a carb source.

The best thing I ever did for my weight loss was to eliminate refined sugar, minimize the intake of processed foods, cut out sodas and alcohol. I'm not saying everyone should take the measures I took but, I'm down 90lb in one year and I've never felt better. I tell myself when I'm around yummy junk foods, 'I can have that cake, I just choose not too' - it then gives me the power. I found after about after a month of not eating sugar I didn't crave it. I do wish you the very best on your journey!!!

That doesn't make them bad. Except for bananas. Bananas are mushy and taste bad. I'll take a stand against bananas. But apples keep the doctor away.

Thank you. I am all for getting nutrient dense foods. Kale chips, chicken etc. Really there is nothing good in apples. They even contain toxins such as cyanide.

One does not take a journey to Candyland and survive. Only the greatest journeyman can prevail in his journey to battle King Kandy and Gloppy the Molasses Monster.

In the latest chapter of Journeyman and the Sugar Satan, we find Journeyman stunted in his greatest journey to journey across the Applepagos Islands to defeat his greatest foe - Badanas the Sugar Satan!

Badanas tricks Journeyman into eating poison when he switches Journeyman's super nutrition packed chips with...plantain chips!!
    OMG-GIF_2.gif

How will Journeyman defeat Badanas now!?!?!?!?!?!?

don't eat peanuts, corn or cottonseed (oil) then...aflatoxin B1 may have as large an effect on human health as any in the world than any other chemical regularly consumed in the diet. It's right up there with arsenic in drinking water as far as effects on health that go undocumented and swept under the rug.

    And it's all natural...
