New and a long way to go....

In 2010 I had an accident at work. I found out that I had crushed a vertebrae in my back and fractured another and herniated several discs. Needless to say my active lifestyle came to a screeching halt. For a very long time I could do absolutely nothing. Over time and with pain medication I am able to walk short distances and can ride a stationary bike. But over the last 3 years I have gained a substantial amount of weight. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I will never be able to do what most people can on an average day. But it was getting where I could not even walk short distances so my son got me a stationary bike. This has helped improve my circulation though I can only ride it limited amounts. I have struggled and wanted to lose weight but in the past I had always relied on diet pills. I had no willpower and really had nothing else to do but watch tv and eat. With my current pain meds and other meds there is no way I can take diet pills of any kind. My daughter posted on facebook about losing 38lbs using myfitnesspal. She looks wonderful. So I looked it up on the internet and watched a utube video. To my surprise this looked like something I could do. I am just starting out it is day two and this is very suited to me. I like being able see everything, it motivates me to eat healthier. I am excited and hope I can achieve the results my health requires. Are there any other people out the battling a disability and weight??? Oh yeah, weight is a disability

    Hi Vivian,

I suffer from fibromyalgia, which is a chronic pain disorder. I have been diagnosed since 2005 and have gained s lot of weight, not just from that but from eating poorly. Whenever I work out hardcore it hurts for days, sometimes weeks after. As a result, I avoided exercise and now here I am. I can't imagine the pain you are in, but I do know what chronic pain feels like and it sucks.

I think this is absolutely something that will work for you. Even just monitoring your caloric intake will have you losing weight and feeling better. I'll support you all the way.
