I am looking for positive motivation and support. I was recently diagnosed with an eating disorder I'm trying to start the recovery process and would like some help going in a healthy direction for weight loss and also like super positive people as friends.

Are you recovering on your own or are you seeing a therapist or specialist? You don't necessarily have to answer, of course. By asking that I just mean that perhaps you should talk to whomever you are seeking treatment from as to whether it would be a good idea to be on a site like this at this time or if they advise differently.

Either way, best of luck on your recovery and there are a lot of helpful people on these boards.

I had EDNOS and self injury for 17 years (27 now). I've been recovering for a year now. Doing it on my own too.

    Hi!
I can completely relate to your situation. I had anorexia about a year ago, and after I lost a lot of weight I gained it all back (and more) to please my family. This quickly became a struggle with binge eating disorder. When I finally got help, I was at 156 pounds and I looked and felt terrible. This was around the third week of January, and since then I've lost some weight. By no means am I recovered, and by no means am I a specialist, but if you are looking for support or you have any questions I would love to help you out. With an eating disorder, especially binge eating, you should always begin to help the situation by regulating meal times and eating at maintenence. It seems bad when you want to lose weight, but the most important step to eliminate ED is to treat food in a normal way, as this will help alleviate the stressful and abnormal thinking around food. Don't focus on weight: focus on your mind, and the weight will follow soon.

Thanks the disorder started as binge eating 4 years ago and I was told by one of my family members that I was fat and needed to lose weight during that time also and that's what triggered the current one I have now

I'm so sorry. I guess you're restricting intake now. This makes it a bit more difficult to give you advice, because if you're losing weight through anorexia but you want to do it heathy, the only way to do it in a more healthy way is to eat more than you are now. Which seems completely counterintuitive! Were you diagnosed by a doctor? If so, your parents should know about it. They can help you with this, I promise. They love you and care about you too. I hope you're at least eating at your bmr rate as well. Look up some healthy recipes and find things you're genuinely excited about eating. It doesn't have to be cheesy or sugary stuff, so don't worry! For example, I had an awesome salad the other day with chicken, salted almonds, spinach, bell pepper, dried tomatoes, avacado, cucumber, and some delicious lemon garlic dressing. The colors were beautiful and I really enjoyed it because I knew it was good for me.
