Hi. I'm just starting out heavy lifting and I need some inspiration. I feel like I have so far to go. Any success stories and photos you can share to keep me motivated would be great. Looking for women who started with high body fat percentage and now are toned and fit. Thanks everyone!

I started at 178 and dropped to 145 lifting weights. The first time you squat with the big-girl-plates, you will feel like SUPERWOMAN.

    this post...

I personally don't have recent pics but I have gone from a size 16/18 to a 4/6, weight from a high of 205 to 143(low) and my lifting has improved.

started lifting at very low weights such as

Bench press was 45lbs now at 130lb (almost my body weight)
OHP was 35lbs it's now at 99lbs (getting ready to break that triple XXX mark)
    Squat was 65lbs now 200lbs
    DL was 90lbs now it's 218lbs

no idea where my BF% is as numbers other than clothing size and barbell amounts mean nothing to me now.

    Here I am at 205 in 2010

Oh why not? I'm feeling AW-y today.

    First day of lifting:

Honestly though, I wanted to start lifting for the aesthetics but the first time I touched the barbell I was hooked on how it makes me feel. I've had some ups and downs, and had to take several months off from the heavy stuff, but I know I'll always come back to it because it makes me feel like I have super powers.

I just started a week ago so am here to learn and keep motivated. I pretty much have no strength or muscles in my upper body so can only manage about 7kg bench press and overhead press. Going to keep at it. Those pics are super sexy!

Just starting out I'd recommend a beginner program that focuses on compound lifts. I did Stronglifts because it's free but it's a little spammy and hard to read (he's got a real "used car salesman" vibe). Starting Strength is basically the same program but it's better written with more explanation of form. There are tons of form videos online that you should definitely watch over and over and over. Or if you can afford it hire a trainer at least for a session or two to teach you proper form.

Other beginning programs that are supposed to be good: New Rules of Lifting for Women and Strong Curves.

Been on Starting Strength for 6 weeks and lost 13 pounds so far, and added a good amount to my lifts. I love it!
