As someone who also loves to eat..and loves food and all aspects of being able to go out and spent time with my friends and husband at bars and restaurants, I totally understand where you're coming from.
I put on about 20 lbs after my wedding from eating whatever I pleased and being "social" in a matter of months.
The way I see it.. You can still love what you eat, you just need to be smart about what you're eating and how often you indulge.
I make room in my calories every day for either some kind of dessert or a beer or a glass of wine. But I prioritize what I want to indulge in. So if we want to go out and get pizza or some crazy indulgent meal.. I plan that to be my one "cheat" meal and make sure I eat healthy for the rest of the week. But I also don't eat boring food all week long and torture myself. I've had a lot of success finding recipes on Pinterest as well as Skinnytaste.com to make sure that the things I'm eating are yummy and enjoyable, but aren't going to stall my weight loss. Hope this helped!0 -
It can be done. Just eat varied, real, tasty, old-fashioned home-made food, not too much, not too little.0

I love food, too - I think about it constantly- love planning holiday or weekend meals - love cooking and eating out - love carbs (mostly savory, but like dessert, too) - love meat - love fish - oh, I could go on!!! Anyway - I'm trying to cut back where possible, count everything, and exercise a lot... I have 40 more to lose, and have been up and down so many times that it makes me dizzy just thinking about it... I'm 44 also, and it gets progressively more difficult to lose weight each time. I'm hoping to make this the last time... Good luck & keep enjoying the things you love - just in smaller quantities! And exercise is a great way to earn more food !0

Yep. I too like to eat, so I spend an hour every morning working out so that I get an extra 300-600 calories worth of wiggle room to eat with. Plus, cardio seems to suppress my appetite somewhat, so while I eat the same stuff, I'm not as hungry.0

Two things that have helped me... First, watch your "simple carbs". For me, when I eat sugar or simple carbs like white bread or pasta, I crave simple carbs all day long. After a few days of not eating it, I feel better and no longer crave that stuff. Second, eat smaller more frequent meals - eat 6 small meals instead of 3 big ones. This helps keep your blood sugar stable, reduce cravings and give you more consistent energy through the day. Plus if you love food as much as I do, it's nice to always be a few hours away from a meal!0

I also eat because I like the taste.
Lose weight by setting a 1lb/week weight loss goal through MFP and eating back at least half of the exercise calories you log, and you can still eat to enjoy the taste.0 -
I have lost ninety so far. My motto is "all food is lovely" and I promised my inner hedonist eighteen months ago that I would not deprive myself. And I haven't.
I suggest making each meal count, eating mindfully, slowly. This extends the pleasure and the memory of the meal.
Pick high satiety, high volume foods to keep you full.0 -
