I am 5.3" and weight 128 poundz, i have gained 80 pounds in the last 3 days even tho i have been on 1200 calories per day, i dont understand, and if its water retention t, what exaxtlt is rhat?

Water retention is when your body holds on to more fluids than it usually does. You fingers and face will be a little puffy. The human body need water in order to function, and sometimes it needs more in order to fix something. The most common reasons are: you just started exercise (the muscles need more fluids in order to repair themselves), you ate high salt foods, you ate a higher carb meal than normal, you drank more alcohol than normal, you took some medications, you are a woman and your period is coming in a couple of days, and many other things.
Unless your kidneys are not functioning well, the water retention goes away anywhere from a day to a week, depending on what caused it.

12.5oz (0.36liters) of water would weigh 0.8lbs (0.36kg). -- Liter of water = 1kg. One of the reasons I wish we used metric in the US.
I've gained more than 3lb between the time I walked into the gym and when I left, due to sweaty clothes and drinking lots of water.
1 liter of muscle weighs 1.06kg (2.30lbs)
1 liter of fat weighs 0.9kg (1.98lbs)0 -

Also, at 5'3" and 128 pounds, you must not have very much to lose… So your losses will be very slow, I would think. Small fluctuations will happen…0

Your diary is not open, but I'm guessing that like most people here, you shoot to overdo it on water. If you are drinking the 8 glasses of water that this site thinks you should have, that is 4lbs of water running through you every day. the exact number on the scale is a better indicator of your hydration state than your weight.
I would strongly recommend weighing EVERY DAY so that you can start to do some data analysis. Waiting 14 days to weigh in again is a mistake. What if you're a little bloated, and you're expecting to see 3 lbs gone, but are up .5 lbs? this may be a normal fluctuation, but you will have no way of knowing. This is where freakouts come from.
Weigh in every day, and plot a moving average of your weight. That moving average is a better reflection of your weight than any individual data point. There's tons of tools out there that can help you with this. I use some from "The Hacker's Diet". Here's an example you can see that individual data points jump around a lot. That is normal and expected:

Ok i will try and weight everyday or everyweek to understand this weight loss better, and yes i am a newbie here just 14days into the app and weight loss.so yes everything is new for me, i see the food items which i didnt know had so many calories, so its a good learning phase.may be ill get better in about a month or 2.i Googled how come i gained 0.80 pounds in 3 days and most of the articles said it was water retention and hence wanted to know what it was.so thank u all for your help and critisicm, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger!!0

Sure 1L = 1 KG, but in imperial measurements, 1pint of water weighs one pound (i.e. 1 fluid oz of water weighs 1oz on the scale). The translation is just as easy .. And Powers of 10 (10, 100, 1000) vs powers of 2 .. (8, 16, 32 ... ) doesn't make much difference from a math standpoint.0 -
