has anyone tried the Mediterranean diet or the Asian diet? And how effective was it to your weight loss? I was taught about this in my nutrition class and wanted to know what people's opinions were about whichever diet that worked out for them the best. Thanks!

The Med diet is very loosely defined, although there are some studies that define what wasd tested like http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2586625/0

The Med diet is also not specifically a weight loss diet. It is a healthy eating diet. Healthy eating would require not overeating, but there are not specific calorie or macro requirements on the Med diet. It's more of a "eat a lot of this, a little of this, very little of this" type diet.
Though I don't specifically follow it, it is pretty much the way I eat. Lots of legumes and vegetables, whole grains, fruit, fish and poultry more than red meat. Olive oil. Red wine.
I gained weight eating this way and I am losing weight eating this way.0 -
The mediterranean diet as others have said (I'm assuming Asian as well) aren't really "weight loss diets" as much as "healthy approaches to eating". That said, the South Beach Diet is a weight loss diet based on the mediterranean approach. My own way of eating is pretty much South Beach Phase 3, which is pretty mediterranean like.
My weight LOSS approach was pretty close to South Beach Phase 2 and it went fabulously. (And I've kept it off for 14 years)
