Has anyone tried the paleo diet. I'm worried about how much fat they want you to consume. I want a low carb diet that will work with my workout routine.

    It's just another fad diet.

Eat healthy at a calorie deficit and bingo = weight loss.

You'll get every sort of answer you could imagine on this one. My advice is if you feel its for you. Go with it. Even on paleo you're eating at a deficit. Eating fat doesn't translate into body fat. Fat is cal- cals turn to fat in excess.

I know what it is but I have never attempted to follow it.

Fat, protein, and carbs all make up your calorie intake. Your calories have to come from somewhere so it gets pretty hard to restrict 2 macro groups (fat and carbs) without starving yourself. That leaves you with protein, protein and more protein. While protein is good for you if thats all you eat I think your body will suffer for it.

Yup, I love paleo. Been working great for me, lost 32lbs!

    Oh wait, donuts aren't paleo?

Lol. It sure would be cheaper since our office brings donuts in for every morning meeting.
    Thank you for your advice

Eat according to your needs and preferences, not to fit any particular, random, diet.

My DR prescribed a Ketogenic diet (Paleo or Atkins) to help regulate my blood sugar. I am not diabetic but I also didn't pass my glucose tolerance test with flying colors. I lost 7lbs in 2 weeks, though I juiced for the first 8 days. Staying in Ketosis proves difficult for me, mostly because I now spend about 2hrs in the gym each day and I find it difficult to remain active with such a low carb intake. I have modified my micronutrients to moderate carbs when paired with a gym day. It has been a couple months and I'm due for more blood work where I will learn if this has made a difference.

Nevermind. Sounds like OP wasn't offended. Sarcasm on then!

Which one? There are, like, a million of them.

If you decrease carbs significantly you usually have to increase fat. It's a tradeoff.

Paleo doesn't have to be low carb, though--like Mr. Knight said, there are lots of different versions of paleo (although they all involve no grains, legumes, and dairy).

I started a lax Paleo diet back in January (bit lax on rice and have potatoes maybe once a month), because I've got some intestinal issues and my husband read that it may help his chronic fatigue. I absolutely refused to go as high as 50% fat because I thought that was ridiculously high. Instead I went for a 40% C, 30% F, 30%P but figured it was a good compromise between what we needed. 2 Months ago my dietician moved me to the FODMAP diet which is very, very similar except it removes several fruits and types of sugars.

Success- I've lost just over 9 kgs (nearly 20 lbs), I discovered I am very allergic to wheat, I'm not as lactose intolerant as I thought, and my husband has been averaging only 1 sick day a month since the switch (before it was about 4-5 days). However, I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. I'm using it as an elimination diet, my husband more because he eats what I cook and needs a lower carb, high protein diet. Still, this is not a forever diet. I have dieted on and off for many years only to gain more weight back. Only a complete solid lifestyle will help me from going back over 100kg. This isn't the lifestyle I want or need, but it will help me figure out what I do need. So I can be the healthiest me- not just the lightest.

Honestly if you don't have gut issues or health problems that make Paleo look attractive, then I would suggest skipping over it. The basic idea of eating less pre-packaged foods and more home-made ones may be very good for your diet and could really help you. Some of the recipes are pretty awesome too. But the rest of it seems like wishy-washy science.
