Help Me Understand TDEE

Would someone who is well-versed in TDEE help explain it to me? It's a relatively new concept to me. I'm 41-years old and come from the "eat less, exercise more" school of weight loss. The TDEE calculator suggests I eat around 2600 calories per day. I generally eat around 1400. I just don't eat a lot (although I do eat pretty healthy). I have stubborn belly fat and am trying to incorporate more weight/strength training into my week. I'm a distance runner, too (half marathon).

My stats are: 41 years old, 5-foot-10, 155 lbs., exercise 3-5 days/week (used to be mostly cardio, now 2-3 days of weights).

I'd appreciate any help and advice. It's confusing to my old school brain. Oh and a little kindness goes a long way; I'm sure I come across as an idiot to some of you, but I don't need to be reminded of this.

Thank you!

Total Daily Energy Expenditure. How many calories you burn on any given day doing everything you do.

You only eat 1400 and your run 4-6 days a week? Are you losing weight?

The TDEE of 2600 means you should be able to eat about that many calories daily and maintain at your current weight.

Thank you for the Scooby's Workshop link. According to that, I am under-eating. I'm going to try to learn more about it, too.
