I've been using MFP for almost 2 years now and had lost 99 lbs. I had a lot of life issues (father's passing, my mom lost her leg then I lost my job) and I wasn't eating and getting to the gym regularly. So many people I've talked to lately about weight loss suggest counting my macros. I was typically eating about 1300 to 1500 calories a day, and working out about 4-5 days a week for at least 90 mins a day and burning between 400-600 calories and I've not been losing but now want to lost what I gained since November which is about 35 lbs. I am wondering if anyone else has had success with counting their macros and have any suggestions. I've checked several sites and it shows my TDEE should be around 2000 calories but that seems so high.

Why not do what you did before? You said not been losing, but how long has it been?0

When I lost the weight before, I wasn't doing all the weight training that I'm doing now. I lost the weight by last May so it's been a year since I lost. The amount of weight training that I do is a lot more than what I was doing before which was more functional exercise. Some have said I need to eat more calories (carbs and proteins) due to exercise. I was trying to find out about macros. I don't think I can eat only 1200-1300 calories and work out like I do, by the time you subtract 400-600 calories burned, I would technically be eating way under 1000 calories.0

No, you're correct. You should be eating the 1300, PLUS your exercise calories. Remember, you will retain water with a new exercise program (will mask your losses). For macros, you should check into: http://iifym.com0 -
yeah and that's what I'm realizing now. Yes, that was one of the suggestions and the IIFYM has me at about 2010 calories for the amount of workout and intensity as I do. And the site you recommend is the exact site I used Now just wondering, as some have said, if I'll gain a bit more before I start losing again.0

No way to tell, everyone is different. Remember, these are all just generic calculations. Try something for a couple of weeks and if it isn't working, drop a hundred calories, rinse, repeat. Good luck!0 -

So sorry to hear about what you'd gone through. Good for you starting to take care of "you" again. I was just wondering, because this is my calorie range more like 1200 to 1500 (eating back some exercise some days) and I am dropping. I do try to burn everyday. Did you lose weight doing this

Or are you saying, your not losing following that?

I'm eating about 1500 calories a day, and I work out about 5 days a week and burn 500 or more sometimes and right now am not losing. Thank you, it's been a rough 5 months and all the stress I know contributed along with the not eating regularly and going to the gym. Before, I was at the gym 7 days a week and 4-5 of those days it was twice a day (for a.m. cardio). I'm not on my regular routine and right now can't get there in the a.m. for cardio. So what I was doing before I'm not able to right now but hate that I've gained 35 lbs since November.0
