Social aspects of eating

I am dining out tonight for a relative's birthday and I realized that I rarely enjoy eating with other people. Eating is private for me. I eat snacks at work around other people but in general I would always prefer to be alone. I prefer to cook for myself too. I truly dislike it when my roommate is in the kitchen with me. It doesn't matter if it's healthy cooking or baking. I resent having another body in the room.
Anyone have this weirdness? Because it does seem weird. I know food is social. My family never shamed me about eating. My father loved a sit down dinner. Mom did hate to cook. Food was just food to her. She wasn't into it.
