I have had a LifeFitness T 5.0 for about 3 years. I believe it was around $3300. When I was looking back then, the advice I remember given to me was to make sure...
1) the track had a good shock absorber to ease stress on the joints
2) there is a warranty for the motor and the track
I also Googled "treadmill customer reviews" and worked o0 -
I have a Bowflex 5 series, and I think it works great (except that the heart rate reading doesn't work).0

Nordic Track T5.5 owner for about 2 years. Here's the thing... as a newbie treadmill owner, I think I 'overbought' with this model. It came with all these seemingly great pre-programmed workouts, however the salesman didn't point out that nearly all of them are for running! I had no desire to run and still don't at this point, so I am basically entering speed/inclines manually. The lesson learned is that I could have bought a really good treadmill without all those bells and whistles for a lot less money. Don't count on the heart rate monitor feature giving you an accurate reading, mine never did (I now use a chest strap HRM to calculate heart rate).
My advice is to decide on how you plan to use your treadmill and then research different models and their features before you actually buy one.0
