OK Ive signed up for this myfitnesspal and ive used it very little. I really need to get on here everyday and really use this to help me. It says my calorie intake should be around 1500-1600. That seems like alot. I was doing 1200 but wasnt really losing like i wanted so IM thinking lord if i do what they want how am i gonna lose. so how many of you have a high calorie like this and still llose weight. Im afraid if i go back to eating 1500 or more im gonna gain not lose but i need help. Ive not been able to exercise due to not being able to walk but i recently had surgery and i can now start exercising some so I plan to start Monday morning doing that, taking it slow and working my way up and i wanna get april started off good with eating right too.

My calorie recommendation is 1675 and it is working
Sometime having to low calorie can slow your metabolism
Also remember to adjust your activity level settings so that it adjusts your calories0 -
My target intake is 2650, which I'm usually a good bit under. Also, you need to take the other values into consideration. I do fine with my calories, but I am having a hard time keeping my sodium down.0

This.
Basically, what I was taught while studying to be a personal trainer, is that it is not advisable to eat under BMR (what you burn just breathing, etc). A basic formula for BMR is bodyweight X 10. Then you multiply it by another number (usually 1.5 to 2.0) depending on your activity level/intensity. This is your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure )
Put into action, it looks like this:
189lbs X 10= 1890 (BMR)
1890 X 1.5 (lightly active)= 2835 (TDEE )
So to lose weight I need to eat over 1900 calories, but less than 2800 calories.
About 18 months ago I got a job after being a SAHM for 9 years. I was more active, but wasn't losing weight. I tracked my calories and realized I was eating about 1600-1800 calories a day. A friend I train with suggested I bump my calories to 2200. The pounds started melting off....
