What's your motivation?

I wish I could say I wasn't used to the ups and downs of weight but sadly, I am. In a world (and for me a profession) that looks so critically on over weight individuals I often find myself feeling like less of a person.
I know we all have to find our own reasons and I am SURE that "to fit in" is not going to be the healthiest way to approach this so I guess I want to know...what made you decide to lose weight?

I wouldn't say it was a decision to lose weight but more focused on bettering my lifestyle which in turn helped me lose weight along with improving other aspects of my mind & body. I felt a lot more energized, less cravings, developed more muscle, etc. I wanted a future for myself that involved living an active lifestyle and that made me want to start that change now :)

There are a lot of things motivating me, but the biggest has been a couple of health scares. I suffer with high blood pressure and recently low blood pressure...both cases were extreme enough that someone in the medical field asked me "How are you still alive?". Also, I'm not diabetic even though there is family history...I'm pretty sure I'm living off karma, and I don't want to press my luck any further.

On top of this, I want to be able to travel and enjoy myself. Right now, I have issues walking after five or so minutes...also there's the need to fit in airline seats. Lastly, I know I'm not in the shape I need to be in for a fun, meaningful, and lasting relationship.

i sign up for races. i guess you can call it motivation to do well on race day.

but it's determination and discipline that get me out there on the road or in the pool.
