Don't forget if you have a bad day you can still make arrangements to fulfill your weekly caloric goal which is more important in the long run in terms of burning fat
I have never heard this before. So as long as the calories for the weekly goal add up its still safe?0 -

I see you are set for 1200 calories and according to your diary you are not hitting that consistently (or at all on the days I checked). It seems that you are dedicated and want to lose the extra weight but the low calories and the pills worry me.
If you are going to continue to take the pills that's your choice but please try and hit at least 1200 calories, especially if you are working out and not eating back your calories from that.
Don't undo all you have done by going for the quick fix.

Unless you eat a great deal over you shouldn't have a problem. You have a weight loss deficit built in of 250, 500, or 1000 calories depending on how many pounds you wanted to lose per week. If you're over a bit it won't hurt.0 -
I think only eating an apple all day wasn't the best idea. When I choose to splurge, I exercise to make room for it. Last night I ate three slices of pizza and was under my calories. this was after having a sensible breakfast and lunch. when I go to a restaurant, I always ask them to hold the fries because I don't like them. I know that if I eat them, I will be sick. because of that, I don't even like the taste any more. then I ask for salad dressing on the side so I can just dip my fork in it before I take a bite of salad. For me, splurging is about making the food fit the life style and the food style I've chosen.0

I don't particularly recall anyone saying "YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CHEAT DAY OR ELSE". Do for you! You tried it (the wrong way I might add) but now you know.
Since starting this journey, I have come to realize that I have CHOICES! I make good ones, but I also make not so good ones. Notice I didn't say wrong ones. I have learned I can get away with some indulgences because I do it with thought. If I know ahead of time I am going somewhere special (for example we went to a BBQ joint last weekend), I did a light breakfast, splurged at lunch, exercised later on and then just had snacks in the evening because I really wasn't hungry hungry but needed a little something something.
I so enjoyed the BBQ and realized I could have a few bites of everything, get full quick and bring the rest home. I was under my calories for the day AND the next day I jumped on the scale and lost a pound.
This is suppose to be a lifestyle, not a mad dash to the finish. Keep thinking like its a race and you'll finish, but then you'll be lost as to what to do once the race is over.0 -

I do have a food scale, but it's not digital and doesn't weigh by grams, only ounces, which makes weighing my meats a breeze, but weighing things by the cup or spoon difficult.0 -
Google is your new best friend! Just search "oz to grams" and it immediately converts it. Happy weighing! I used a tiny, crappy weight watchers food scale from I'm sure was the 80's when I first began, and only very recently got a digital food scale.

Cheats and treats are very different words to me. Psychologically a 'cheat' would make me feel bad. If I 'cheated' in a test or on a partner - that isn't something positive. If I 'treated' my partner - now that's a positive. Having a treat is something you want to do and something that remains in control. Cheat implies that you have done something you shouldn't have.
That's just my opinion anyway. My advice would be try and change the way you view a 'cheat'.

if it makes me feel guilty, I don't eat it because I don't want to feel that way. I have redefined what a "treat" is for me. If I go out to dinner at someplace like Outback, I choose something from the menu that is low calorie and fits into my day. I would much rather have a tasty piece of fish, chicken or beef and a salad than eat something that is going to make me feel sick all night. My body does NOT do well anymore with a ton of junk food.
On the other hand, I go once or twice a year to a restaurant that has lobster asparagus fettuccine alfredo. It is my absolute favorite thing ever, and I absolutely get it. Unlike in the past though, I don't eat as much of the noodles, eat all of the lobster and asparagus and am totally happy with it. I only get it one or two times a year at most, so overall it has zero impact on my weight. If I started going there more, I would eat a much lower calorie option and save the favorite for a special occasion.
I don't "cheat" on my "diet" because this is just the way that I eat. I can't really "cheat" on that. I log everything, eat well and am consistently losing weight. I wouldn't have a day where I don't log because logging is part of my healthy habits.0 -
I haven't had a cheat day since I began eating healthier (6 1/2 months). Now that I'm near goal I decided to go for a sugar-free cupcake (even though I avoid the white stuff) as a treat. I had taken my daughter and her friends to the grand opening of a new cupcake place.
About half an hour later I had the worst stomach ache and didn't feel right the next day either. Personally I don't think I will try that again for a while.
I think everyone just needs to find what works for them-cheat day, no cheat day, cheat meal---that's really my philosophy on eating, exercise, etc. Try different strategies until you get it "right" for you.0 -
Having a splurge or cheat day is not about forcing yourself to eat something you don't want. It is about relaxing a little to enjoy a treat now and again. A treat by definition is something you enjoy but don't have often.

That's the "beauty" of learning to eat better/healthier. When you have those "cheat" days, your body helps you make better decisions by rejecting foods it is not happy with. Next time you will probably choose healthier splurge foods and be happy!!0

I have the best diet plan, that works for me. "The fast diet" I fast two days, eating only 500 calories and eat normally the other 5 days. Have lost 2 lbs per week for the past 4 weeks.0
