is it true that there needs to be a deficiet of 3500 cals to lose a pound?

On average, 3500 calories for a pound of fat. Technically speaking you'll be losing water and muscle too so you won't find that a weekly deficit of 3500 calories comes out to exactly a one pound loss but that's the best estimate.0
