So I currently workout about 4-6 days a week and my workouts range from 45 minutes to 2.5 hours. MFP has my calories set at 1,200 but I usually like to have a larger defecit from my workouts. I usually do cardio for half of my workout and strength training for the other half. Is this an effective workout ruitine for weightloss? Do I need to be doing cardio everytime I workout or can I just do strength some days and still get results? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Weight loss is such a silly concept. I'm assuming you mean fat loss. Fat loss comes from what and how much you eat. Food is fuel and materials for rebuilding your body.

Exercise should be for other fitness goals (muscle mass, strength, mobility, cardiovascular, endurance, balance, speed, agility, etc.). What are your other fitness goals? That should drive your exercise program.

Did you gain more than a pound a week to get where you are? Probably not. It probably came on slowly over a number of years. And that is the healthy, sustainable way to get rid of it.

    Patience, persistence, and progression.
