i need help!

I am 256lbs. at 28 years old with 2 kids I am constantly tired. I have been saying I am going lose weight for a while now, and ill do good all day, but then go nuts at night. I always have some excuse. I will start tomorrow, my period is coming, I will just do better tomorrow and exercise more. I am sick of the excuses. I am sick of not being able to be interactive with my daughters. I would love someone who has close to the same amount of weight to lose who would support me and I can support them. my husband is really supportive, but having someone who is trying to lose aswell would be great. I need to over come my addiction to food. i do not want to starve myself or do those shakes or pills cause its all crap. i want to lose the healthy way. i know i can indulge a little, but it seems my problem is i do it too much too often. what has worked for you? any tips out there? do rewards work for you?

I am right there with you. I am 37, 6'2" and at my heaviest 261.6 lbs. I also am the mother of two and want to be able to be more active with them. My doctor gave me a prescription appetite suppresant which I started today. She told me that my goal should be a 1300 calorie a day diet. My first thought was NO WAY!! But if I truly want to help no only myself but my family I AM GOING TO DO IT. My first job is to get rid of caffeine - In the past I would drink the 1300 calories in pop but not anymore. I know this is just day one and it will get tough....but we have to STICK WITH IT. I also have the support of my husband. I am looking forward to the new me in the days, weeks, months ahead. If you have any low calorie meal ideas to share I would be interested. I struggle with fruits as I am not a big fruit eater - I like watermelon, oranges, grapes, and pineapple. I do not like any of the berries. I plan on a salad with a grilled chicken breast and a hard boiled egg for supper. Made a wrap with turkey and cheese for dinner - totaled about 250 calories.

If your constantly tired, I would suggest either having your doctor check your vitamin levels or pick up a multivitamin. I was constantly tired, but when I started taking a Multi, my energy levels improved greatly. So for me being tired was because I wasn't getting enough vitamins. You could also have some other underlying cause that would make you tired. I believe thyroid issues can cause you to be tired (hypothyroidism) and their are probably other medical conditions that can cause this as well.

As for exercising, start slow. Go on a walk with your daughters, even if it only last 10 mins. Most days I only do 20 mins of cardio (5-6 times a week) and 30 mins of lifting 3 days a week. If I'm feeling really energetic, I can manage to do up to 90 mins of cardio, but most days I don't come close to that.

I only aim for 1lb per week loss and eat whatever I feel like for the day. It's okay to occasionally go over your goal, as long as you don't go over by more than your pre-set deficit you will still lose weight. For example, my deficit is 500. So I can go over my goal by 500 and not gain weight, but I also wouldn't lose weight either.

edit: Oh and I'm 5'4.5". I started trying to lose weight at 260lbs and when I started using MFP (not the same as when I joined) I was 218lbs.

Hi, im 29 with three kids (ages 6,7, and 2months)...i weigh about 240 right now. Hubby is supportive, and needs to lose as well but doesnt wannacount calories. Hes still managing to lose with diet changes though. I was feeling tired and went to the dr..ended up having vitamin deficencies. Vitamin d and Bs...so i take those now, as well as my prenatal (breastfeeding) and fish oil.
What has worked for me is a small deficit with weight lifting. I was losing, before I got pregnant, half a pound a week and tons of inches. I have my macros set at 40carb/30fat/30protein.. i dont always stick to it strictly but always try to get at least 115g protein. I pretty much eat whatever i want but i still struggle with stress eating sometmes. but the smaller deficit makes me feel satified and not too restricted. I tried doing anywhere from 1200 and no exercise calories to 1500 with exercise cals and i just do better netting no less than my bmr (1800).
I have about 10 more lbs to lose to get back to prepregnancy weight and i just started exercising again. Jillian michaels body revolution and a weight lifting program. I walk about 4.5 miles a day during the week, getting kids to and from school but that may drop next week after summer vacation starts...ill stil try to hit my goal of 10k steps tho.
Dont stress too much about "good" and "bad" foods. Try to eat as healthy as possible with some fun thrown in. We still eat out a few times a month.. pizza, burgers, etc. There are weeks where i have ice cream every day. I just make sure i dont over do it and it fits in my cals. Uou dont have to be perfect, just do your best. Do what works for you..if you can do ice cream in moderation, go for it. If you cant, it may be easier for you to keep it out of the house.

I'm 251 right now (started at 275) and I lost that 20 eating low carb. In my opinion, it's the EASIEST way to do it because it is such a no brainer. Eat less than 20 carbs per day. That's it. I lost 20 lbs that way and it was a great way to kick off my weight loss. Sadly, as much as I loved it, my body didn't (tummy troubles and such) and I have now switched to counting calories. I have been doing it for 5 days now and it's fine too. I am learning how to feel when I'm hungry and when I am, I eat a good mix of calories (fats, carbs and protein) which, in the long run, is the most healthy way to lose weight.
