Hello everyone. I was wondering What's a good time to have dinner. Now I'M a busy mom and some night dinner isn't until after practice. I hear that u are suppose to stop eating after 6 p them I hear stop eating after 8p which one is it??

    Eat when you want. I find that I don't like to eat too late because laying down with a full stomach makes me feel bad. But there's no real "dinner should be at this time" time. Do whatever works best for you and your schedule/ family.

    I've had to eat dinner at 7 to 8 while hubby was on nightshift; I didn't get home until 5:30, so by the time I was finished cooking it was late. Don't sweat it; eat whenever you can.

    Thats total marketing crap, which is nowadays spread all over magazines... yes in the evening our body calms down.. but it all depends if you are weight lifting and so on.. especially when you are working out you must need to eat afterwards..also the amount of cals throughout the day counts not when you eat them.. if you eat the right amount of cals why should it make you fat ;) only overeating does!!

    let me add this: depending on if you are putting weight on fast, you could only eat fewer carbs in the evening than throghout the day, as your body will burn more fat while you are sleeping if you eat a meal rich in protein and fat before going to bed.. but all together things differ from person to person and especially depends on how active you are...

    to OP: If only it were so easy, right? We'd all go to bed at 6:01 and be skinny :)

    I don't really think meal timing matters so much. Just eat when you want to.

    I work from 11am-730pm, and I don't get home until around 820pm. Then if you add cooking time, I usually don't eat my dinner until around 9-930pm. I go to bed around 1130pm.

    The only think I will say is I do like to give myself at least 1-2 hours after eating to go to bed, but that's because eating tends to wake me up a little, and I've never been able to fall right to sleep after I've just eaten a meal.

    I was told by a doctor once that there should be at least 2 hours for digestion before bedtime. He explained that if you are not giving your body enough time to digest the food you are at a significant increase for reflux/gerd where the stomach acid actually damages your tissues because it can leak upward in a resting position.

    CALORIES IN CALORIES OUT...it doesn't matter when you eat your calories, as long as you are eating less than you are expending in a 24 hour period, you will lose weight.

    @sofaking6 I think you didn't get me right. I surely didn't say that she will be skinnny by burning fat in her sleep, if you understood me that way. Its known that in the evening anabolic hormones get activated, this is supported by a protein and fat rich meal, as insulin release decreases this process. So someone who in general puts on weight really fast can benefit a lot here. If following the correct diet and exercise program, designed individually. The body is such smart, if you know the general processes and adjust them to yours, you can do great;) Generally the most important thing with losing fat is having muscles, if you signalize your body they are needed your body is forced to use fat. Without that the body always chooses muscle burning over fat on a deficit diet without proper strength training.. That's why people are not really successful when doing cardio and eating on a deficit ;)
