Skittles!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm not a fan of candy but I really like skittles! Especially the ones from England because those taste so unique. A friend of mine recently visited and bought me a bag.
Anyway, a skittle is about 4 or 5 calories, and I thought that eating 10 skittles p/day is pretty moderate since its 40-50 calories.

The problem is though...

Skittles are a fear food for me and I'm scared of eating them because I automatically think, " this is going to slow down my weight loss " and I end up staying away even if its " moderate "

Is it better to stay away from them so I don't stress out or should I go for it?

I know it sounds like a stupid question to ask but... thanks! :)

I no longer eat Skittles because the dirty rats changed the flavor of the green ones to --blech, green apple! Used to be lime or something citrus-like. I have boycotted them ever since.

If I find myself wanting something like that, I will buy it and work it into my daily plan. Maybe your plan would be to just buy a single pack of them and divide it up into 2 or 3 servings and enjoy. Add them to your log. Exercise a little more or even go a little over for 1 day...no biggie. Get them out of your system and you probably won't want them again for a while. It does work for me!

No food is off limits...my only rules are that I have to make it fit my calorie goal one way or the other, or be OK if I go a little over one day...and it has to be something I really love. Like, I will not sacrifice 300 calories for a Dunkin Donuts donut, but I TOTALLY would for a Krispy Kreme donut.....

For the first 2 months on MFP, I stayed away from any candy. One day I was reading a topic here and they said it is perfectly ok to eat it. Just work it into your daily calories. I did, and have been eating 1 piece of Dove dark chocolate every day since for almost 3 years. It is my reward at the end of each day for staying within my calories. I learned not to deny myself any favorite food. Moderation and portion control are key for me. I am on maintenance now, but still follow this way of eating. It works for me.
