Lightly active or sedentary?

I am trying to lose around 1-1.5 lb a week but I'm unsure of how many calories I need to be eating. I run on the elliptical 6 times a week for at least 35 minutes and do interval training so I typically burn around 450-500 calories. Besides that, I work in an office and am off my feet all day. Would this be considered lightly active or sedentary?

Do you have a smart phone? If you do, download one of the many free step counter apps and see how many steps you get in a typical day (you will have to keep your phone on you at all times) before you workout (or after if you do morning workouts).

I'd guess your probably a little more active than you think. I know I feel pretty sedentary (I even take naps in the middle of the day), but turns out that just my normal day routine is actually a little more than lightly active (not quite Active). I found this out by using a Fitbit (which is pricey, and while I love mine, if you just want a quick way to figure out where you stand the free phone apps will work fine).

Your activity level excludes exercise, so sedentary sounds about right. However, your ticker says you only have seven pounds to lose. If that's correct, then you should be set to .5 pounds a week.
