Hey all! This is my first day on MFP. Ive done WW in the past, which is very similar, but I dont want to pay for it so I decided to try MFP. I have about 45-50 lbs to lose and Id like to do it by Christmas time this year.
I had my third baby, a sweet little boy, back in December 2012. I gained waaaay too much weight during that pregnancy and with my first two babies, I was able to lose it just by breastfeeding but it's just not coming off as fast or as easily this time. Bummer. My goal is to exercise 5x a week, eat clean, cut out processed foods/trans fats/junk food, etc.
Im looking for some people that might be in similar situations to add me as a friend! I need lots of motivation!
Also, how do I figure out how much extra calories I need because Im breastfeeding? Ive read add about 500cal a day, is that right?

I had my son in July 2011 and I'm trying to get rid of the weight I put on during and after my pregnancy. I actually didn't breastfeed so I'm not sure if that's made a difference or not. Good luck with everything. Feel free to add me.0

Not that much. 500 cals is the average. It might be a little more or a little less because everyone is different.0 -
Hey there! My little girl turns 1 next Saturday, and I'm still breastfeeding, so feel free to add me (anybody) You can do it! I'm super excited to post some progress pics on her birthday... :flowerforyou:
Oh and edited to add that you can list your breastfeeding calories under your food diary. Just search breastfeeding. I still use 500 calories per day. It's just the average.0 -
I had a huge problem losing the baby weight after my daughter was born 3.5 years ago. I gained 70 lbs when I was pregnant and with breastfeeding I ended up still 20lbs up from my prepregnancy number. I even gained another 10 lbs in her first 2 years. Last year I finally decided to work on it. I changed my diet, started running and eventually added a strength program too. I lost about 16lbs of the weight and then got rid of my scale because getting to a certain number seems kind of irrelevent at this point. I'm 2 sizes smaller than I was and I'm no longer horrified when I see my stomach.
Anyway the point is, with healthy choices, exercise and a good attitude, you will be able to make it happen, even if time has passed.0 -
I've had 5 kids in the last 9 years.. I've lost all the baby weight and then some after nursing, working out, and making lots of healthy eating choices I agree I've always heard about 500 calories for nursing but was told it also depends on your activity level. Feel free to add me!0
