How Do I Log This?

I've been doing my best to log everything correctly. I've been adding my own recipes for homemade foods so that I have a better grasp of the calories. However, there is one exercise I have no idea how I should log. I have a 35 acre farm and lately I've been walking up the hills on the farm for exercise. Now, these are hills I'm talking about. I live in eastern Kentucky, so these are steep hills with uneven terrain. However, when I go to log I seem to be stuck with simply calling it walking. If I refer it as hiking, it wants the weight carried. I'm not carrying weight except for my own fat butt and maybe a bottle of water. There's cross-country hiking, but I'm not sure if that's even right. Any suggestions?

I would use steps. You can get a step counter that counts and logs for you. It's walking. This will give you a calorie burn that errs on the low side.

I'd go with "Hiking, climbing hills, carrying <10lb load"

You could also use a treadmill entry, because those tend to have incline.

I do have pedometer. That sounds good, but I might also go with the climbing hills. I was hesitant on that one. It is less than 10, but it's zero actually.

If this is something you're doing on a very regular basis, investing in a step counter might be worth doing. Something like the Fitbit One, which takes elevation into account as well as just your steps. You could sync that with MFP and it would adjust your calories accordingly.

Garmin and Misfit are two other companies that make step counters that sync with MFP. I, personally, have a Fitbit Flex and having it synced with MFP so I have a real idea of how many extra calories I burn has been great :)

The suggestions above are good for now, too!
